Biography: Audra Degesys-Lykos joins St. Augustine Catholic School as its first Director of School Operations, a new role created to work alongside the principal, executive team, and staff to support their leadership and teaching.
Ms. Degesys-Lykos brings over two decades of experience in organizational development, education, and program management. She has served with the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Peace Corps, and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where she oversaw programs in Ghana, Nigeria, Syria, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Belarus. Her teaching and teacher-training experience spans the University of Maryland, the Middlebury College Language Schools, elementary schools in the U.S., national teacher training institutes abroad, and even Sesame Street! Whether guiding educators or coordinating emergency operations overseas, she ensures teams have the systems, resources, and support to excel.
Over her 20 years in foreign assistance and development with the U.S. government, Ms. Degesys-Lykos has strengthened operations, streamlined communication, and built partnerships that open doors to new opportunities, while honoring the identity and mission of the institutions she serves. She is also adept at telling an institution’s story in ways that rally support and deepen community pride.
Holding master’s degrees in Bilingual Education and Conflict Resolution, Ms. Degesys-Lykos is committed to preserving Saint Augustine School's (SAS) heritage while fostering thoughtful, sustainable growth. At SAS, she will help the executive team to refine operational systems, streamline communications between the school and its stakeholders, and broaden awareness of its remarkable legacy. She is honored to partner with SAS’s leadership and community to extend the school’s reach, strengthen its foundation, and ensure its mission continues to flourish for generations to come.
